growing up, there used to be a records club  [Columbia] you could join and buy records of your favorite songs.
nowadays, there are audio book clubs, paperback book clubs, video game  clubs and
mobile apps for all those things.

I remember clubs like this. I did belong to a dvd club at one point but that went down fast due to online streaming services

I think I was a member of all those clubs at one time or another lol Ah the memories.

I've only been involved with one club like that, but it scared me off from joining any other monthly club. I joined a book of the month club, but I didn't like getting all of the unwanted books and being charged for it on my credit card, having to send the books back, etc. So I tried to cancel my membership (before Internet) by mail, but they acted like they never received my letters. Finally I had to get an attorney I worked with to write a cease and desist letter, and only then was I let off the hook for the membership. I haven't joined another one of those clubs since then.

I remember the Colombia Records.

That is one thing I  never did, I  knew other people who  had joined and they had a hard time  getting out from under them . so figured it was easier to not join and just go buy something I wanted which was not often and save my money. When something sounds really good it usually ends up costing a pretty penny.

At one point I too had joined clubs, but it seems that the Net took over and no more clubs.

I remember that, also my Mom was a member of some club where you saved stamps to cash in for goods I  think, but I can't recall the name of it.

I too remember those clubs.  I also remember them saying you can get X amount of movies for 1 cent each.  I fell for it once... ended up paying twice as much for movies than had I bought em' at wal-mart.  Than I figure I'll never do that again... and wouldn't ya know it my then husband fell for the same darn scam and I ended up paying all the movies he bought for a penny too.
