I know several people who are in the military and they have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time, they have entered into a career that is taking them further, being in the military isn't easy, not by a long shot. As for me, I'm disabled, so I've been able to be an asset to my church in volunteering.

I agree with several of the people on this thread. Working hard is the key to getting on your boss's good side. Do your job. Don't let outside influences disrupt your job. Look for ways to improve the process. I owned a business for thirty years and only hired those that I saw working hard. I never put advertisements out as I did not want people coming to me for a job. Generally they would still be working at the same job if they were great workers. I would watch other companies for talent that I thought would fit in with my groups. I had a few exceptions. I had a young lady that was persistent about meeting with me at a time when I was extremely busy. I finally relented and she said that she wanted a job and was willing to work for twelve percent of the increased profit generated by my company that could be attributed to her. She made some good cash and became a salaried employee with me the very next year.

We are doing our self reviews for end of year and for our bonuses.  For "spirited teamwork" I wrote "I feed you all" as I always bring chocolate and treats for my colleagues.  My boss agrees with that assessment.

Work hard.  Pretty simple.  Work hard on anything and everything no matter what your job description is.  Weird to me how people miss this.

There are a lot of people that kiss up to the boss, and I can never be that person to brown nose...lol. I will be ME and I am very cordial, respectful and go above and beyond my job duties all the time but not for the boss! I do it for my own satisfaction because I love my job and love to help people.
