Water

That sounds very strange.wondering if they are checking out the neighborhood.That happened near by and afew days later robberies started anyone working in construction always has water with them especially if they are working outside in the summer.

Yes I always take water if I am going some where or going to do something some where.

That also strikes me as odd that workers would not have water with them on a hot sunny day. In fact, I would be very
wary of leaving the door to my house that they were standing in to go get the water for them. I would be afraid they were trying to rip off something in my house.

I take water with me all the time and yes they should have it.  I had a tree cut down that had been hit by lightning and the guys didn't have anything to drink.  They did a good job and saved me over $5000 so I supplied tea and water but the next job they get the people may not be as nice.

At least i'm the the only one who thought it was pretty odd that they were outside without water all day .. I had no problems giving them water.. and they do appreciate things like that when they are working at your house or something and you take the time to give them ice cold water.... I'm sure anyone would.. I am a very trusting person.. I never really think any bad things about anyone... I have been told i am to trusting.. but i usually have 3 dogs in the house.. with me so .. i guess that takes alot of the worry away about what could happen.. I never though about it really... Anyways thanks everyone for the great feedback.. it was intresting to read all of your comments i learned alot

I don't think I would have gone to the door.  Its bad not to have brought their own water.  I've never seen an outside worker that didn't have water with them.

I have to say that i would be trying to figure out what they are up to? I always bring something to drink when i work ouside.

SO today our neighbors house was being reinavated... and the guys over there didn't come prepared i guess.. and came and knocked on my door asking me for water. I had no problem giving them water... I can't imagine working out in the heat in the summer time.. but you would think.. they would bring water... So my question is.. if you are working out in the heat all day.. as a job.. would you bring water???

You are very nice for giving them water, most people would charge them. However I do think it is odd that they didn't bring their own water. I'm just glad nothing bad came out of it other then you being a bit suspicious.

It's unfortunate for you to have to be thinking what they are up. It's even more unfortunate how it is bad to be too trusting. This world just have to much going on that you can't afford to be too naive, I guess the dogs help.

If I gave them water, it would be outside of my house, say at the tap on the side of my house.  I don't care who they work for, they would not get inside my house.  I don't trust people.

Sounds VERY odd. 
People who do this on a regular basis know to bring their own water & food.  I've had contractor work done a lot lately & every contractor brings water ( sometimes jugs) & their own food -- I've found their food often stored in my back refrigerator.  They've also gone off for lunch & gotten their own food.   I've always offered the workers bottled water -- I've become a pro at hosting construction/repair workers....  3 slab leaks & a complete two story repipe job in the past 3 years :/

Seems odd that they would need to hit up the neighbors for water.... but you never know.
I've had some little trick-or-treaters (on Halloween) that I didn't even know ask me for water... lol
