Surprise Proposal and Wedding Weekend

This weekend was very unusual and special for my family.

Our daughter wrote a skit which was performed live in the City Park in the morning during the Arts in the Park celebration.  Following the skit, she proposed to her man.  He said YES! 

A few short hours later, we moved from the park to the historic Palace Theater for a WEDDING!

The wedding party all dressed in "Mary Poppins" era clothing.  The crowd sang Spoon Full of Sugar, popcorn was served during the ceremony. 

It was a wonderful weekend!!

That was fast, but sounds like it was fun for them,  Sometimes  when  a couple has to wait for months they do tend to get the jitters. I know when my son  (who was 27 at the time)  got married, he was so wound up by the time it rolled around he just broke down afterwards, his nerves got the best of him. But he was married for 17 years and loved his wife dearly until he passed away. I wish more marriages were like theirs.

I hope everyone was there that they wanted, sometimes unless you are tipped off you might just be late to a thing in the park. Soundsc like a lot of fun, and way less expensive way to have a fun and memorable wedding celebration.

These two have been planning on getting married for quite awhile.  He thought they were going to stop in at a Justice of the Peace "someday" in the near future.  They had already gotten the marriage license and have been ring shopping together.  He has been involved with the local theater in many plays, so our daughter wrote the skit for him. 

His comment to her at the park following the proposal was, "Well played!"

She wrote a mini skit for the actual wedding ceremony too.  She had a full size Movie Poster created and their name was on the movie marquee.
