It would depend upon just who is the friend or family member, because there are a lot of them  I would not go into business with. Learned the hard way on that one. Did it once and got  bit. Never ever again.  They got greedy and   shot us with it.  so we left them and started our own and did quite well with out their fingers in the pie.

Agree with Vicky sue 100%.  It depends on the family member and/or friend.  At times it will work, but more than often it breaks up friendships and separates family members.

I'm extremely independent so I don't comprehend doing that.  I believe you'd have to be very, very compatible with your business partner in order to make that succeed, financially and in every other way.

I ran my own business for over 20 years, but can't imagine doing it any way but solo.

Probably not.  Nor with a stranger.  Start it myself yes but not with other people.
