What do you think about the WALL??

Now, this post is not specific about Trump supporters or non-supporters... but more in general... I am just curious about HOW you see this whole thing about building a WALL to drastically divide America from Mexico.

I have to say, I was not born here... I am Italian, but I do feel American now too... as my husband and kids are full Americans... YET, I really don't understand the necessity of a wall and I would just love to read your thoughts about it.

Positive or negative... I am just curious to read your opinions.

Having lived  near the border of Mexico for 14 years, i can tell you , yes the border wall needs to be built. During all of the time i lived there  at least three times a week there were  illegals  coming up and at least 8 times a month on the average i was calling the border Patrol  because they were on our property and or our neighbors and that is n the day time.  If a person went  down towards the border  rock hunting which the club did there  was tons of trash that they left when they crossed and put their clean clothes on and the  plastic bottles every where. When the BP would pick them up at least 205 were   OTM'S  other then mexicans  Also they thought nothing about the damage  they did to others property by breaking in to peoples property. Oh i could  go on about a lot of other things they did. But Yes the Wall needs to go up to keep drugs out also.

Then maybe we should also build a wall that separates Bronx,NY from Westchester County!!

My opinion is that a wall might do something to keep out people who are coming here illegally to get low-paying jobs, but it isn't going to do a darn thing about the drugs coming in. The drug cartels have enough money to hire experts who will get their goods in one way or another. So basically I think it is something that would cost way too much to be worth bothering with. Better to put the money into less expensive options that would help the country more like creating jobs for more people to work as guards and to utilize new security equipment that would be made by U.S. workers.

I love the Idea of a wall..............  it's what makes our houses stay in order   THINK!

The wall costs too much for me to be in favor of it.  Yes, I know he said Mexico would pay but I don't believe that will happen for one minute.   Also, I have seen many stories lately where folks who own homes and land near where the wall will be built and their property will be on the Mexican side of the wall.   One family who is already in that situation house caught on fire and they could see the fire trucks on the other side of the fence and they couldn't get through, border patrol had to be called and by the time they got there to open the gates the families home had burned to the ground.   

Too many logistics to work out for to the benefit of all those concerned.   
I would rather the money be spent on our homelessness and vets and feeding the hungry.

I think it is stupid but then again I hate that they come over here and take everything from us...and on top of that they don't pay taxes.

I don't know, the US/Mexico broader is pretty long I just don't see how it'd be possible to build a wall and maintain it. 

I think even if a wall is built, nothing is going to stop an enterprising person south of the wall from buying a fire truck and start a business of smuggling people over the wall.  Google search says fire truck ladder can reach 105ft while I think the highest estimate of Trump's wall is only like 55ft.

It's not going to stop the drug cartels either since most drugs are smuggled into the US by boats.  Some cartels dug tunnels, I think they found one tunnel in California last year that even had rail tracks installed.

Oh I watched a report on this yesterday.  It was so heartbreaking...the family got out safely but wasn't able to save their pets.  They had to listen as their pets burned to death

I think it's stupid.  I don't think it will happen.  They need to use that money to deport illegals and go after companies that are hiring them.  Money could be spent on better enforcement.

To be honest I agree with some of you... a wall is going to do more damage than good things.
1) It is going to cost a lot of money (AND time).
2) It won't FOR SURE avoid (nor even reduce) incoming drugs... as drug dealers won't definitely be stopped by a wall.
3) Money and people working on it, all those efforts and costs could be spent in a wiser way to help this country become better... this seems just a waste.
4) People living on the border are already seeing their house, farms, properties divided... which is ridiculous.
5) A wall does not stop immigrants, as said... how long does it take to climb up?
6) Immigrants are PEOPLE, human beings... some of you talk about them as if they are animals.
7) Walls are made to protect like the walls we have in our homes.. sure.. they also have a roof and a door... it is slightly different... This is not a protection but a division.... I don't see it very functional nor practical..

Thee list could go on.... but I loved reading your opinions... and I accept and am ready to read ANY point of view.
Too bad that this country is so much divided... we could do sooo much more if only we were united...

I do find it amusing that there are Trump supporters who were all for the plan until they realized they'll end up on the wrong side of the wall. It's almost as entertaining as the people who voted for him and now are upset because their family members were deported
