Help! i think someone's trying to scam me!!!!!!!!!

My husband has gotten several of these calls.  From first hand experience, the IRS will not call, email, text, facebook, etc. you.  You will receive a certified letter if they are trying to reach you.

The voicemail states that a lawsuit was been taken out on me due to problems found in my income tax!. The caller sounded like she's from India & the call's from Miami, FL. I've also received a month ago, a call with the same number from the Miami FL. area,no message just breathing sounds! So, today, the same India voice's telling me a lawsuit has been taken out on me but this time the call's coming from Babylon, NY! I don't understand why they'd bother with me, my income is soooooo tiny profiting of me is basically laughable! For the last 8yrs my big sis has been doing my taxes with no problems! I don't know what to do. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before! I don't even know who to contact about this issue here in my state of Tallahassee, FLA.! Any help from FC Staff/Members would be greatly appreciated!

There are TONS of scams out there and this is just one of the many.  My advice is if you're not familiar with the number that's calling, don't even bother answering.

Just hang up.  I get a lot of this scam as well.  If I find something that I don't want to hear, I'll hang up.  Sometime is rude but not important for me to waste my time on.

Scamming is everyday and getting worst.  I receive emails that is a scam at least twice a week.  Also on my smartphone.  It's everywhere and you have to be alert more than ever.

The IRS will never ever call you. If you ever get a call from the IRS, you should know that it is a scam.

when you see any of the phone numbers on your caller id screen, don't pick up the phone.
Don't answer the call at all.
Don't give them reason to keep calling you.
When you answer, that tells them you "want" to talk to them.
Now, it sounds like you have to find a way to get these callers to stop calling.
I am not sure whether or not it would help to put your number on the "do not call list" .

That is definitely a scam I can promise you.  If you had a problem on your tax return you would hear from the IRS first and foremost.  I would not know who to contact I would just ignore them and/or let them know you know they are trying to scam you.  I did that with something similar and the guy started cursing me out.  And they never called again but Gerianne is right don't answer it.
