I wish I could get a pet cat or dog. I always wanted one since I was a kid but I am too busy to take care of them right now and they are so expensive to care for if you take them to get their shots and stuff.

As long as you can give them an hour or two a day of devoted attention and play time, a cat is a good animal to care for for a busy person.  :cat: :) They are pretty independent and sleep much of the day as it is! I've had cats almost all my life and they get along okay on their own, as long as you do show them your love when you're home, talk to them, cuddle with them (if they're the type!). Rabies shots are as little as $10, then you just need to worry about their feline leukemia shot, and possibly distemper, which isn't all that much.  And create a little savings to grow on in case they need to see a vet. It's 100% worth it!!!

Then its good you don't have one, it is a big responsibility and we don't need unwanted pets roaming around 8)

I know the feeling, I want a huge German Shepard but, I know I won't be able to have the time & money to take care of her. I already have 2 brat cats, I can barely handle them financially. Your better off donating to animal charities. This would save many animals & shut down kill shelters. I can't have a dog but since I donate small amounts monthly, once a year, I get approximately $300.00 in refund returns.

Having a pet is a big responsibility, but if you're working all the time and not having enough time to see after them, I wouldn't guess that would be a good idea to get one. House pets require more, leaving them home when you're at work can be stressful on them, cause they are used to having you there with them, i like cats, not dogs, but i don't have a cat, just the neighborhood cats that comes around leaving a pile of dirt in my driveway. But to each is own.

Yeah, it can get costly (both with time and money), but it's worth it.

I've had dogs all my life, and I could not go a day without one. My girl Bunches goes every where with me. I also have no family members left alive so she's all I got.

The smaller the pet, the less inexpensive they are.  Feeding quality food saves on vet bills later that result from poor nutrition (skin issues, ear infections, allergies).

Do research on the vaccines, many vaccinations aren't needed for many areas & science has proven most vaccines stay in the pets system for their entire lives after the initial vaccination with only the rabies being required by law.  (google "Rodney Habib", he has alot of cool info out on pet nutrition & vaccines).

Do research on pet types/breeds before getting one.  Short hair pets typically shed but don't require a groomer for frequent haircuts.  Pinterest has many ideas on DIY pet beds, toys & furniture which don't cost much.

Check into pet insurance, Pet's Best is one of the better ones I've found & they let you customize your pets policy on-line.

I've had pets since age 2.  I've often worked extra hours & extra jobs to provide for them but.....they've been sooo worth it.  They're family & I LOVE spending time with them.  I'm with them as much as possible, even take them to work with me several times a week.  It's important to get one that you "bond with" & are committed to keeping for the rest of their life.  Too many get "dumped" because they "didn't work out" and that's not fair to them.  Dogs & cats offer unconditional love........we owe them the same.

Dogs and cats are nice but expensive and needs lots of love. I prefer the wild kind like wild birds that comes and goes. It is wicked fun to watch them.
