what's in a name
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:23:02 am »
a name has a certain meaning.
people have their favorite names.
I have a cousin named Connie.
It is also a boy's name.
In the news, the president meets with the Irish prime minister.
His name is Edna.
I've met ladies with that name.
This is the first time I heard of that name being used for a man.

Even the TRUE God has a name.

May people know that you, whose name is Jehovah,+
You alone are the Most High over all the earth.+Psalm 83:18

HIS name means,HE causes to become

Moses asked, and was answered by God what HIS name was and what it meant. You can find it in book of Exodus.

we know kids don't have a say so in the beginning to have what their names should be, but to grow up with a girl name for a boy, or boy name for a girl. I seen on tv a man name Essex, I was like "what in the world." To grow up with a name like that is mind boggling.

I actually don't care for my first name so I got by my middle name. My parents still call me by my first name however. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing when friends call you by your middle name and family calls you by your first.

I like my name. I was named after a song. I don't like ambivalent names that can be used both for a girl or boy. I can't stand names that people give their children for a lark; like Sandy Castle.  :(

I also saw a name in the phone book that I never forgot. Thurman Futhey. It's so hard to say. However, if you have a lisp, it might be easier to say.

I'm not knocking anybody here; especially Thurman or anyone who has a lisp. It is what it is.  :confused1:

I don't mind my name. It's not common anymore and like it that way, however I don't like the spelling. It's been a result of gender confusion and it's gotten very annoying.

I have always gone by my nick name,  When i was born my great grandmother, grandmother, my mother and 2 older cousins all had the same name. Mother nick named me right away and i have  always gone by it.  If when i was small and mother called me by my given name i knew i was in trouble. But  i was such a  little hair raiser it seems like i was always in trouble,   A lot of times when getting into trouble my mother had a hard time  keeping a straight face because when questioned about i always admitted it and never tried  to lie about it. Because if i lied about it that is when  i would get a light spanking and  didn't like those.

I gave my kids unique first names & common middle names. A name means everything but we also gave our children three names (one first, two middle & of course their last name) This way they are able to pick the name in life they want to go by. So far they have both loved the unique names, NOT found on key chains, we have given them. They love their middle names but they also realize so many names are the same in the school system they like standing out from the rest with just the names we have given them.
