Limiting what we see in the news
« on: September 10, 2016, 01:56:32 pm »
For a long time I was seeing what was happening in the news because I "liked" the Fox 13 News page on Facebook.

Then I noticed that there's a lot of media garbage about Hillary, Trump and Obama on my Facebook page.  I decided to "unlike" Fox 13 news so I wouldn't have to see all that on a daily basis. It was all about arguing, drama, power struggle and insults.  Too much negativity for my personal taste.

Now I feel that I've lost track of what's happening is other aspects of life.

Do you limit what you see?

How do you know what's happening in your community, state, country or in the world?

Have a great day!

A lot of what i see on Facebook is nothing but garbage or some persons wishful  thinking, So i don't really believe most of what is on.  But to each his own.  I do so enjoy visiting with family and friends though so guess i will take the good with the bad. If i see a person talking about something it will maybe listen but if it is a written article  rarely read it

It is called "censorship". Do not believe everything you see, read or hear. Use your own mind and draw some conclusions.

I am right there with you. News seems to be a tool for use by the highest bidder or over does news stories in an incendiary manner. Media outlets seem focused on creating race wars with a focus on people of color being killed by those in authority. As part of my job I need to spend thirty five minutes every morning in search of any trends that may be pertinent to analysis that I will be conducting throughout the day. It is amazing how one sided different outlets are like Fox and CNN. Kind of sickening. It is also disheartening to see how much attention goes to athletes. News is so distorted...it would be nice to have just one source of news that was objective rather than going to three to four different sites.

I think the majority of the time the news is biased in one direction. I rarely watch the news unless it is an event which can't be tainted with opinions.

I'm a news junkie but I agree, Facebook is way too drama filled and can be a breeding ground for negativity.

I am to the point I do not even watch the news.  I skim the topics on yahoo but most of that makes me angry.  I am so sick of the political crap it is unreal.  And most of the headlines are twisted in order to get people upset before the even read the story.

I don't watch the news any more! It's too negative and I'd rather not hear about or see imbeciles in action on the news or on TV! lol
