Heart Operation

Today, my mom has had a heart valve replacement operation. She is 78 years old and has been waiting for the operation for a little while. I believe they had to cut through my mom's ribs, stop her heart and temporarily put her on a bypass machine.  I think this is quite a big operation, it took the surgeons 6 hours and she has now come out of surgery. I wondered if anyone has had the same operation. What was your length of recovery time? Did you experience any post-op complications? Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

I never had that surgery, but I just wanted to say, thank Gid she came out if surgery ok.  I wish her a speedy recovery!

I have never had the operation  so I do not have any first hand experience. Still I wish your mom a speedy recovery.

my parents have had by pass surgeries but that was years ago.
The recovery times on most operations has greatly improved these days.
will keep you and your mother in my prayers for a speedy recovery.
