Has anyone had one done? What was the experience like? Did you feel it was worth it? I know it's expensive...

I had it done as a teen. I was shot up with enough Novocaine that it was essentially painless. I suppose it's done to prevent the possibility of losing a tooth- presumably in your old age- but, unless that concern is imperative, I think it's not something one needs to be concerned with.

Not smoking....flossing and using a water pick along with brushing and seeing your dentist with regularity should help you continue to have your teeth for a longtime. We are our worst enemy on prevention.

Until now I had not heard of Gum Grafts! I am intrigued to find out about the process although to be honest, am a little old-fashioned in my perspectives of dental treatments. In fact, I recall a time about 20 years ago when I had my first white resin  filling which I felt sure would turn out to be some gimmick that would sponge a load of money from members of the uneducated public. I paid good money for my white fillings which now I admit look a whole lot more natural than metal fillings and I understand them to be more longer-lasting which is a good thing.

Basically what they do is take a chunk of flesh from near the roof of your mouth, cut it up and stitch it to your gums around the tooth/teeth that have receding gumlines. They stick some kinda rubbery plaster over the area and give you some medicated mouthwash to use for about a week until the plaster comes off.

Thanks! Yeah, I know what the procedure is, I'm just trying to determine if it's worth the cost.
