Sanctuary Cities
« on: November 15, 2016, 11:32:32 am »
So, what does everyone think? Should cities be able to thumb their nose at federal law? Rahm Emanuel came out yesterday and stated that his city will protect those who live there.

The San Francisco mayor said there will always be shelter for people in this country illegally. The mayor of Chicago states almost the same thing but adds that they should not be afraid of anything. They will be safe in Chicago.

I find this disgusting. There is a federal law on the books that criminalizes what these cities are doing. I can't remember the full law but it is part of Title 18. There are fines and jail terms for those who break this law and they're pretty hefty fines, too. The government need to start enforcing their own laws because the country won't heal without them.

There are also laws on the books about protests, civil unrest, and riots. Why didn't this administration use those laws over the years of riots and protests. Allowing anarchy is not a good thing. Our forefathers are rolling over in their graves at how our own government refuses to enforce the law. Too bad they can't haunt some of these lawbreakers like Mr. Scrooge did in A Christmas Carol. :)

I totally agree. There needs to be enforcement of the law. Sanctuary should be for the innocent, not the guilty. Too bad we're all too happy to shelter criminals and try to make them feel "better", all the while hampering the work of the law enforcement officers in this country so they do not appear to be profiling anyone. Never mind targeting our men in blue for extinction. How very sad.  :confused1:

And as for protests, they were never meant to be used as an excuse to riot, loot and burn. It seems these incidents have been agitated by outside parties because there were people being bused in from out of town (once again) to be a part of the unrest. Martin Luther King must be rolling over in his grave.

The city where I live before is a sanctuary city for me because it is very peaceful and the crime rate is very low compared to other big cities in the world.

My city will never be one. California loves to take in anyone... put people there... California is a rotting corpse already.
