Probably not. I'm working at a job right now where I get a pension, but I'll be leaving that job in a year or so to move to Massachusetts, and I'm not sure if I get a new job up there will offer it or not. It's a far way off for me, so I'm not too concerned about it right now.

I'm sure I won't have enough, but with the direction this country's heading, it's rather silly to think of something so far away. I try to save what I can, but I know it's not enough. It would be better if I could put aside the thousands of dollars the government steals from me each year for Social Security, because I know I'll never see a dime of it.

Retirement seems like the elusive American dream which most people find hard to achieve especially with the amount of tax that's taken from us, not to mention the cost of living. I'm always open to opportunities and working towards a better lifestyle for me and my family, but I won't waste my present stressing about the future. My family is happy and we're moving forward if it's achievable we'll attain it, if not so be it, in the end God is our source.

That is the question everyone asks, no one knows how much the cost of living will be in 30 years...but I have a good start at it.

As long as my Internet Income holds out, I am not going to worry about it. So far, so good and every time I see doomsday on the horizon, something new pops up to help out.

I think I will, because I am saving my savings at the age of 26 so I hope I don't have to worry about it later.

Well i dont know if I'll ever have enough to retire. But I hope I have enough where I can pay for my necessities like health care, pay off my all my debts, and still comfortably.

We are in retirement and living on less than half the income we had during working years. It is difficult to stick to this small budget but we do it because we have to. I am still finding my retirement years very pleasant though and don't really mind this decrease in income.

If I would have listened to all the pundits, I would have shot myself when I retired. The real truth is, all that talk is to sell more insurance and or coax more money into banks. As long as I have half a brain and the Internet, I will be fine. I say that after doing great for 15 years with very little insurance or savings and no 401K or any kind of pension plan other than Social Security.

You're so right, oldbuddy.  :highfive:

Here is a wonderful quote from FDR during his inaugural address: "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

Planning and forethought never hurt anybody.  In fact, it often takes the sting out of many things, including retirement.
