Emails at work
« on: January 12, 2016, 10:47:46 am »
Do you prefer to send an email to ask a question about something job related or get up and go talk to that person face to face? i prefer to send  an email so I can keep track and always have something to refer back to.

I don't work at all.  I just volunteer at a nursing home when I go to my day program. The day program owner pays me.

A lot of times I do like a record of something so I can go back to it.

Depending on what it is, I would prefer the face to fact but sometimes I need proof so I have to do the email

I agree with sending emails for a record but if its something that takes longer to explain I'll call or set up an in person meeting. Then, I follow-up with an email to summarize what was discussed and/or action items.

I prefer face to face.  If the answer is ifify, I then ask for a email to cover my self.

A lot of the time an email is just quicker and takes less time to send an email.  Some people do a lot of chit chat when you are face to face.  Then you also have a written record of it too.

Email is more convenient, but if it's something important, I prefer face to face, so I can make sure all the facts are straight.

Well I say get your lay butt up and walk over and ask a question.  Also depends on if you can wait a few days to get an answer.  And if it is something that will be kept I would probably not answer.  I recently had this experience and the HR manager wanted me to send her an email telling her something I had just told her in person.  Needless to say she didn't get the email.  And she will not.
