electric cars
« on: January 03, 2016, 06:44:45 am »
I heard a neighbor's daughter tell the story of her brother's electric car.
They are costly and he has one; is able to afford it.
He doesn't have to get gas at the gas station - a big savings there year after year.
His sister says it is so quiet. There is no engine noise.
There are no fumes.
As time goes by, the price will go down and more people will be buying them.
There will be no more need for oil.

Electric cars are like solar panels...The initial cost is expensive but can save you money in a long run... Technology advancements improves it everyday in terms of efficiency

I guess they would be alright in the cities or if you never went any where. But I can't see them out here in the wide open spaces. We drive any where from 80 miles to about 170 miles one way. Just to go to the doctors.  and a lot of it is on the freeways. Oh yeah I can just see have to find some where to recharge it every time .  What about all of the extra electricity that will have to be produced to keep these little tin cans on the road.  Maybe a hybrid where you use gas to drive at times to recharge the batteries. Or if you live where the winters are brutal and the batteries die. Nope not for me.

There is a lady I work with that has one -- it is a cute lil car and you can't hear it running I just worry about keeping it charged -- what if you get stuck in traffic for hours then what??

I'm sure more places will start opening up stations to charge them and of course you will have to pay for the charging of them them. That will be the cost of fuel. After all electricity isn't free either, so why would they open up charging stations for free?

We could use crude oil and its derivatives for other uses. I think electric cars is the best way to replace the combustion engines that many motor vehicles now use. Other means of transportation, like airplanes and ships, some day will be all electric too.
