That's not always the case. There been many instances were one foreign country would attack another and that country would retaliate (its only fair if you start something you deserve what you get). Every country has a right to defend itself how they see fit. Honestly don't see any single country letting another just letting them attack without a response. Granted most wars are based off greed for what they got in resources that can be exploited but not all.

What war was ever over resources?  We have been the victim of many terrorist attacks and they are not attacking because they want any resources.  They hate us.  That is the only reason they are attacking.  That and they know we are a bunch of wusses that won't fight back.

Every country does not have a right to defend itself how they see fit.  They do have a right to defend themselves, but there are rules that must be followed.

For example, the use of nuclear warheads just being used at the slightest provocation. They aren't supposed to be using chemical warfare either, there are rules of war.  There are many rules of warfare that people are supposed to be abiding by, see the Geneva Convention.  If they don't follow the rules, they are tried for war crimes & then they get the whole of the UN on them.

A country can not destroy the planet just because they see fit.  That is why North Korea can't have nuclear technology or Iran, etc...   Not trusted to not use nukes.   The whole weapons of mass destruction ordeal.

Who profits from war?
Not the soldiers fighting it. Not the people of the countries waging war.  Nor the people of the country having war waged on them.

All wars are fought for profit.

There is no such thing as a "just war."

If it was not for wars the big companies would not profit from the technology they keep selling for billions of dollars.

Wars are so unnecessary most of the time.
