If they're done on a grill, they're okay and I use mustard, ketchup and finely diced onion.

If they're done in a saucepan or fry pan, I'll pass because I don't really like hot dogs, but sometimes I do make them and then I can't eat them without stuffing with cheese. I would love to top with saurkraut but the can is too much for me since I don't eat but 1 or 2 dogs.

Here's an recipe my mom used to make a lot. She would take and slice the dogs lengthwise 3/4 way through then stuff with baked beans mixed with diced onions and a bit of pickle relish, stuff the dogs, then wrap in bacon and bake until they're done.  I can eat them that way more often, but Hubby doesn't like them stuffed, but will eat them just wrapped in bacon. LOL

I've thought about just stuffing with cheese (I'm crossed with a mouse) then wrap with bacon. I might do that next time, which will be about 6 months from now. :angel11:

This post is so making me crave hot dogs lol.  I like mustard, ketchup, raw onions, pickle relish and occasionally I like a chili dog with raw onions.  I used to not like sauerkraut but now I do like some on a hot dog every once in a while.  Yum I am starving for a hot dog.

I buy the hot dogs w/o nitrates and nitrites at the store. Hint: OM Selects [brand name initials] Finding hot dogs w/o nitrates and nitrites is not an easy nor an inexpensive task. But it does allow me think I'm eating more healthy when I succumb to the lure of hot dogs.

The more stuff I can pile on a hot dog the better, but normally I'll only have mustard, pickle relish, onions and salsa. Yummers!  :in-love:
