at my window
« on: September 25, 2015, 07:21:02 am »
At 4 AM, I heard a noise that sounding like tapping. I peaked out and saw a furry animal sitting on my windowsill. I called night security at the front desk. He came out and shooed the cat away.
We have had stray cats on our property from time to time over the last 8 - 10 years.
Fortunately, the cat did no damage to my window screen.

An occasional stray cat is one thing, but how would you feel about a few deer having lunch in your garden?

You had someone come and shoo it away?!  You couldn't shoo it away yourself?!  ???

Why shoo it away at all?  Cat's don't make a hobby of destroying window screens.  I have four cats and my screens are just fine.  :cat: :cat: :cat: :cat:

I only get toads, lizards and a variety of insects in my back yard, but frequently smell skunk encounters from the nearby road.  Now that's yucky.  :(

I would have expected a squirrel. A cat is a surprise. But my mother-in-law traps them and callS the city to pick them up. Once she caught a possum! BMaston12

Old Buddy, do the deer have to jump that fence to get into your yard?  I don't have them that close to me but do have them quite often and had 3 wild turkeys a couple of days ago in the pasture.  That's a great picture.
It wouldn't occur to me to call anyone to get a stray cat away from my window but then I have a lot of dogs so it's not going to happen to me anyway.

As a matter of fact, my neighbor put that fence up to keep the deer out of his garden. The other edge of my yard is an arborvitae hedge they have no problem getting through. However, in a previous house I watched deer stand flat footed next to a nine foot high fence and clear it in one jump.

I had a skunk meandering through my back yard the other night at dusk.  I live in a subdivision in a suburb not far from many businesses.  At first I thought it was a large cat or maybe a racoon, but as it walked and I watched, it soon became clear I had a visitor where I was glad I was in my house scoping it from my window and not out in my yard as I am occasionally.

we have six cats outside that we feed.  they started out as strays, feral...but now all six let us pet them. usually when eating lol.  they'll jump up on our window sill if we don't feed them as early as usual but they never bother the windows themselves.

Atleast it was only a cat. They are good animals. And most likely harmless. Probably cold or hungry. Poor kitty.

We've had one deer in our back yard; a dozen pheasants and then bunches of the normal rabbits.

Your picture oldbuddy was fun!

I am sorry to hear that a harmless cat was at your window.  Oldbuddy, that is a beautiful picture.
