Blue Bloods, Big Brother, Impractical Jokers are shows that I really enjoy watching and try not to miss new episodes

The best way for me to be UNADDICTED is to no longer have tv... My roommate moved out a month ago and shut of the cable that was in her name. I don't want to pay for it so I have not signed up for it again. I don't miss it (yet).

I've watched that show quite a bit myself.  I am about 20 or 25 pounds overweight -- nothing extreme, but still something I need to keep in check.  Changing your eating habits is very difficult, but for people who are THAT much overweight, it is often a coping mechanism to deal with some other emotional issues.  It is interesting to watch a show like my 600 pound life alongside a show like Hoarders and see the similarities between the subjects who just fall into different patterns of coping.

That said, I think that TLC purposely tries to manufacture "drama" when it comes to the show's subjects either being defiant with the doctor or eating things they shouldn't be -- otherwise the show wouldn't evoke such strong emotions from its viewers and wouldn't draw as many people back each week.

Think about it - they follow and film these people for an entire year and then whittle that down to a 60 minute episode.  So the editors are sure to crop in the worst of the worst days just for the shock factor.  It is both exploitive AND informative at the same time.  Still you can't help feeling sympathy for some and dislike for others...
