IRS SCAM
« on: June 02, 2015, 07:54:23 am »
Watch out, people. I just got a phone call stating they have been trying to reach me and this was the last time they'll notify me of something, don't know, hung up.  (According to my accountant, we didn't have to file this year because we made $0, only SS. So, he didn't file for us.)

It's a recording. Remember, there was just an IRS DATA BREACH and they may be using the info to scam people. The hearings on it are being held today. Koskinen is stating they don't have enough funds to keep this from happening. Yeah, right. He used that excuse for everything that doesn't work. Too bad they won't force Lois Lerner to answer where all the funds went.

I heard on the news where people were getting calls that were suppose to be from the IRS but it is a scam.  Be very cautious who you give any information to over the telephone.  You never know who you are really talking to or where they are located when they call.
Have a wonderful day!

We do not answer the phone if we do not know the number.

I have never heard of not filing taxes for that reason.

I know I heard something about a data breach, but if I ever get a call i will not respond since that is not the way the IRS contacts you; we just need to be mindful of all the scams all over the place these days.

My father got one of those IRS scammer calls & his number is unlisted.  But he is wise enough to know it was BS.   He contacted & reported the number to some agency FBI/IRS who are on the lookout for this very scam.

Nothing new here.  That kind of scam has been going on for years now.  I would like to think people are smart enough to recognize that it is a scam, but they keep doing it so clearly someone is falling for it.
