I bought a whole houseful of blackout/thermal curtains before last winter in the hopes that the thermal aspect would block out the cold and would help to keep our house nice and warm. So throughout these winter nights I have kept my curtains closed and then in the morning, I draw the curtains to see condensation on the inside of the window which has subsequently turned to frost. Of course once I've left the curtains open a while, the frosty condensation melts because there is no thermal curtain to keep in the warmth. So by my reckoning, they actually work! What do you say?

I have never had thermal curtains, but I've heard they work really well.

I would say, by golly, you did it. :highfive: They actually do work.

And I personally love the fact that they block out light as well. Makes for great sleeping. Good work!

I have never had thermal curtains.  It has been my experience that the frost and condensation appears when you put any type of material on the windows.  Does it keep your house warmer than other curtains do?

I have never used thermal curtains, but I guess it would be a good investment if it keeps the house warmer.  I do know that blackout curtains work to keep the light out during the day.

I have never tried those types of curtains. I am glad they worked out for you.

My mom has them in their LR and she says it makes a huge difference.  I don't like them closed because I don't like it being so dark.  I would rather have light and be cold. lol

:) Yes, they work. That is why you have frost on the inside of the windows. You can try covering the outside of the window with clear plastic. Works great on keeping the cold out. :)

That's good to hear. I've been thinking about getting some since the room I'm in is particularly drafty. Never bought them though since I wasn't sure if they'd work.

Modern technology is awesome...There is always this one company that creates a product that solves some issue (or at least saves u money over time)... For instance the window company have a new technology that is able to retain heat inside but keep the cold air from seeping thought

I might actually give it a try sometime. It's been a killer over here at California

I agree - they absolutely work.  Where I live I need to keep out the heat and guess what, they work for that too - keeping my house cooler!
