Mind The Mess
« on: February 05, 2015, 01:36:21 pm »
Do you know People who say "mind the mess" when they don't have a dirty house?

Recently i have been told i am one of these people.. I guess mainly because i see myself as a clean person who likes to have a clean room or a clean work space... I say mind the mess because i always see my area as it could be cleaner... Not that it is always a mess...
 Do you do this?

until recently my house and my workspace were really a mess. but I do know people who are like that. everything looks perfect to me but they are see that things aren't the way they want it.
My house will never be as neat as a pin and I can live with that. others get very upset if things are out of place.  :peace:

My house is always not perfect, between remodeling  projects and my hubby.  his mother nicked named him pigpen. It never bothers him. Right now I am a mess after undergoing a biopsy on my spine and am not allowed to do much and it is a pain in the behind. But this too shall pass. He did vacuum the floor half a**ed but at least it is cleaner after all the mud we have had. He is pretty good about taking his shoes off. Oh well can't complain he does some outside that I can't do. and  when the time comes to get my garden in he does all the heavy work.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder.I guess you can say that about cleanliness.Everyone is different.

I like to keep a few empty Snapple bottles.I live with my mother-in law.If she sees 2 she always throws 1 out.Shes a pain in the butt.I can see if i had 50 of them.I like to keep 3,4,5.

I sing in a band.1 of the other members has to wrap his cords a certain way.I think hes also a pain in the butt and i dont offer to help him wrap them up cos of the way he is.

Discernment and understanding go a long way.

"Mind the mess" - NO.  "Don't mind the mess" - Yes.
I don't go to that many people's homes other than family and they know I don't care and they don't say anything.  And I don't say anything either because I don't have that much company.  Just my mom or cousin.  My house is not dirty but maybe a little messy but that is because it is lived in.

I remember several years ago I went to a friend (or actually just someone I was going to church with at the time) house - it was her and her husband and their 2 kids.  And she at first would not let me go inside.  We were in the yard talking.  She finally said we will go in but asked me to over look the mess and I am thinking "yeah right".  Oh my gosh!  You would not believe it.  There was literally trash every where.  Trash bags (probably at least 40) in the kitchen and LR.  It was a trailer so imagine that when I describe this.  So these 2 rooms basically join.  There was a narrow path you could sort of walk thru but you had to walk on crap that was in the floor.  There was dirty dishes every where.  And paper plates and real plates with left over food stuck to them.  There was so much junk and trash that there was not even room to set a drink down.  And there was no where to sit.  We had to stand up.  The bed rooms there were clothes all over the floor and in the LR too. lol.  They just stomped on them and went on.  This was about 10 times worse than any pictures I have seen on TV on that hoarding show.  But this was not hording it was just mostly trash that she and her husband were too lazy to take off.  And the dishes - I would have just thrown them away and started over.  Sad is they rented the trailer so when they got kicked out for not paying the rent I am sure she just left it for someone else to clean up.  It was so bad I think if I was the owner I would accidentally set it on fire and just take the loss.  LOL

I never get the house as clean as I want it even though others joke about it being "too clean".   (I've heard they are afraid to touch anything & "mess it up").  I want a "homey"  home where it feels comfy, but it just never does.  To me, all it ever says is "not clean enough", so yes...I do say "pay no attention to the mess" even though I work hard to keep it clean.  Others might not see "the mess" but I "feel it".  I can't help it.

Well, I will not call myself a clean freak, but I do like my house and work space clean, my house is not sparking from the cleanness but at least is passable.  But even though I am not a control freak I really do not understand how can some one live around a dirty house, messy as far as like having your clothes around the floor, or your mail a mess on a table is something I can live with, but plain dirty, dusty the kitchen full of sink for a week with all type of bugs around and the counters sticky from food, or the bathroom black with mold, kind of dirty is just plain YUK.

Many years ago I owned a Condo that due to unforeseen issues I could not sale so we rent it, the Realtor did the "Checking" and everything else and the couple that moved in there stayed for 3 years, their last year was plain awful, they paid late many months, so we decided it was time to sell, when we went in to inspect the house prior to putting the For Sale sign up, the house was absolutely dirty and messy.  I mean sticky carpet and all.  We got lucky and a lady decided it to buy the apartment 'As Is', we gave notice to the tenants and they of course moved the last day after midnight.  It was the worse experience I have ever had.

But the apartment, OMG it was a pigsty, carpet was sticky, looks like they had had the electricity cut off and live at candle light, there was WAX candle everywhere on the carpet, the floor the counters, the stove.  The bathtub on the main bathroom was black, from dirt, even after 2 full gallons of CLOROX and an overnight soak it would not go away.  It took my husband 5 hours to vacuum the carpet before we could steam cleaned and that took about 3 more hours.  I have never seen anything so awful.  It was a nightmare.

I guess you could call me a clean freak.  I honestly have to admit I have to have a clean, uncluttered house.  It drives me nuts to have things out of place.  I want the house to be a home, but a clean home.  I have been to other homes where you are expected to remove your shoes so you don't dirty the carpet.  I'm no where near that bad.  I don't have carpet, hardwood floors, but I would never ask anyone to remove shoes.  I have the family room designated for parties or my husband's buddies football nights, but after they leave, I have to clean up immediately.  Guess I'm weird about that.
