I have always been a democrat, but I think I'm going to change my party to Libertarian. I just feel like our government is becoming a corporation. I feel like it's becoming too large. I feel like the government is slowly taking away a little bit of our freedom, a little at a time. And it's always "for our own good". I'm not a child, I'm an adult. I really feel like our government is turning into something our founding fathers were trying to avoid.
I really think decision-making for education should be left to the states, communities, and parents.
I really think we should on deploy troops only in the case of direct attacks. It should be defensive only.
How can seven states make it legal to use marijuana prescribed by a doctor, but the federal government will still arrest these sick people who try to pursue the treatment. States should be able to adopt alternatives without interference from washington.
I want federal agencies and military to be held responsible for harm THEY have done to the environment.
I want to have the choice of opting out of the social security system and invest MY money were I want to. Instead my money that I work hard for is getting poured into a system headed for economic collapse. How do I know this money will be there when I retire?
End failed federal welfare programs. Private charities are more likely to offer useful counseling and one-on-one follow-up rather than simply mailing a check. They also tend to provide SHORT-TERM emergency assistance, rather than long-term dependence. Private charities provide a safety net, but not a way of life, and helps break the cycle of welfare dependency and hopelessness.
in 1960's, low-cost health insurance was available to virtually everyone in america- including people with existing medical problems. doctors made house calls! a hospital stay cost only a few days pay. charity hospitals were available to take care of families who could not afford to pay for healthcare. Then the federal government intervened with medicare, medicaid, the hmo act, and tons of regulations for doctors.
today more than %50 of all healthcare dollars are spent by the federal government. The only healthcare reforms that will make a real difference are those that draw on the strength of the free market.
