Do you call your parents by their first names?

I find calling parents by their first names disrespectful. I am also taken aback when my cousin-in laws call my aunts/uncles by their first name too. I think the latter is on a case by case basis, but it at least bothers me.

In our country it's very disrespectful to call parents by their first name.  So I don't think so.

Absolutely not! I never have and I never will. They will always be known as mom and dad.

I did not grow up calling my parents by their first names. I believe that in my culture it is disrespectful to call your parents by their first names.

I do not know my Dad as well as I do my Mom, so no for my Dad.

I only call my Mom by her first name when I am joking with her. Otherwise, it is Mom.

Some parents don't really deserve the title of mom or dad.   IMHO, those not deserving to have those titles should be called by their proper name.    But mom & dad or some variation should be used otherwise.

No, I call them mom and dad. The only time I do call them by their first names is when we're taking jabs at each other. All in good fun of course. I have found that the people who call their parents by their first names don't have a great relationship or a relationship at all with them.

no way they are mom and dad and even my mother in law and father in law are mom and dad.  i agree that it is disrespectful to call them by there first names.

My parents and I have a very rocky realationship but I still call her mom I feel the minute I use her first name I am giving up hope we can fix our realationship
