Paypal Verification
« on: July 25, 2009, 02:07:56 am »
I don't know if the support forum is only for FC focused questions, but I'm posting this here anyways.
I've heard varying stories and processes on getting a paypal account verified. So I was hoping to just ask amongst the members here about their experiences.

A very dumbed down answer/steps would be appreciated--I'm no financial guru.

The way I want to go is right now I have a credit card linked to my account with some balance in the account itself. My understanding is that if I buy something that costs more than my balance, paypal will draw off the credit card to fill the remaining deficit. And charge me an exorbitant fee for doing so. Yes? No?

Well I want to get their credit/debit/mastercard to get the limits lifted from my account. Are there monthly fees? yearly fees? like a normal credit card? or can I just let it sit there for X amount of time and lie completely inert? And if I use the card in a restaurant per say like a normal credit card, am I charged extra by paypal for doing so? and can I still have it charge the account balance first then use the linked credit card as a back up or am I slammed with fees? Mainly I want to know what the fees are (hidden or otherwise) so I can avoid them. I also heard there are like 3 different types of cards. Which one is best for personal use? Non business like.

Thanks to any and all replies.

For one, what you said is true. If your paypal doesn't have enough money in it when you make a order, it pulls the difference out of your credit card/debt card whichever one you use.

When you get a paypal credit card, which is pretty much a debt card, you can use it pretty much anywhere, but then you must have money in your paypal to use that card. Just get a premium account on paypal if you use it often, otherwise just stick to a regular account.

Hope that helps.

I have used PayPal for several years now. I have a credit card and bank account linked to my paypal account. If I make a purchase that is larger than the balance in my paypal account they draw off my bank account first and credit card second (never had that happen so I can;t say if theres a fee for credit card draws.) I am never charged a fee for doing this. I also have the paypal debit card (because I do quite a bit of selling on ebay.) I have only been charged to get the card and I think that was like $1. I have never been chargd a monthly or annual fee for the card. I can use it anywhere that mastercard is accepted.
