So tomorrow I go to have oral surgery.  I will put to sleep for the procedure.  I am so nervous!  Have you every had oral surgery that required you to be put to sleep for it?

No, never put to sleep! Had local anesthetics for extractions. What kind of surgery is this for? Why do you have to put asleep for it?

I have had oral surgery, but was awake for the entire procedure. A second root canal was done on the same tooth and they had to make an incision and perform it from the base of the tooth. I am curious, too, just what type of oral surgery are you having done?

I had my wisdom teeth removed, one second I was perfectly awake, next second it was all over & I was being woken up.   It was my first surgery under anesthesia & was apprehensive, but it was so easy.   Waking up being groggy was the worst part, I just wanted to keep "sleeping"  but that's not an option they make you wake up :)

I've had 2 wisdom teeth removed and I was awake for both extractions. It wasn't nearly as bad as what I was picturing. I hope everything goes smoothly for you :)

Hi,
Do not worry. I had 2 oral surgeries. The 1st I was put to sleep to have all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed. No big deal. I was in pain for a few days after. Like sore. Although, I did not get pain killers or anything. The 2nd one was a cavity (that was saved from being a root canal) rotted 15 years later, with only part of it in my mouth. I was awake, it was 20 seconds, and I did not feel a thing. Not even after.
Good luck,
Sandy

You will be fine.  Getting put to sleep makes these type of surgeries so much easier on the patient.  It will be over before you know it.  The anticipation is the worst part. When my son had his wisdom teeth out, he was put to sleep, but that night he was begging to go bowling!  It didn't bother him at all.  Come back and let us know how you are doing!

Well last summer I had to have 12 teeth pulled plus my wisdom teeth. Because of the medication I was on I was not able to be put to sleep. I was so scared but honestly, it wasn't even that bad. It bled like crazy for the next 24 hours but as far as pain went, it was toleradable. Since you are being put to sleep I think you will be fine. Good luck.
