Ice Poll
« on: June 11, 2014, 06:38:40 am »
I am deeply perplexed.  After decades of making ice in the ice cube trays, my husband bought a bag of ice because he was tired of filling the ice cube trays.  My brother also buys ice. Do you buy or make your own?

why waste money on that at the store; people waste their money buying bottled water too when they can buy a very good quality water purifier. Pro Pur, Berkey are examples....there are good choices. We have more pollution in our waterways and garbage thrown in our lakes, rivers and streams. The fish can't eat our garbage.

I have those things (got mine at the Dollar Tree) that are reusable.  Comes 12 in a bag.  Brightly colored either squares or fruit shaped thingeys with distilled water in them.  You freeze them.  Put in your drink.  When done wash them and refreeze.  Awesome product.  NO, I would not buy bags of ice at the store.  Too hard to get apart and takes up too much room in freezer.

We don't use much ice at our house.  We keep our drinks cold in the fridge.  I do keep a plastic ice tray filled in the fridge just in case we need some.
Have a wonderful day!

I make my own. I don't consider filling ice trays to be much work but I'm not using ice often.

I have three different kinds of ice trays, which gets emptied often.  My husband and brother in-law uses ice a lot.  How do you solve this problem?  Simple.  Whoever is the last person to empty the ice tray, it is the responsibility of that person to put water in the tray and put it in the freezer.  I can't blame your husband or brother for this.  I have trays that the cubes fit inside water bottles, I purchased two old-fashioned ice trays, and I ordered two more.  While I understand that people like their drinks with ice in it, it is a pain in the butt to go to get some ice and the tray has been put back in the freezer empty and dry as a bone.  I like to make iced tea.  My ex broke me up from that when I made some tea and put it in the freezer.  While I planned to have a glass of it when I returned home, he came home, took the bottle out with him and he and his friends had cold iced tea at my expense.  I was beyond pissed, because I made the tea for us and he didn't care if I got any or not.   :rainbow: :rose:

The ice maker on my fridge is broken, so we do not use ice. We just keep all drinks, including bottled water, cold in the non-freezer part of the fridge. We do buy ice if we have a large gathering, though, and keep the ice and drinks in large coolers.
