Summer time Reading fun
« on: June 20, 2014, 01:32:54 pm »
:)What to do that doesn't require a lot of money and still be enough to keep the kids from being so totally bored?   I signed Devi up for a reading group at the Library.  Sounds boring right?  Not at all.  I found out the other day that just by signing up and reading the first one hundred minutes got her name put in a drawing for a chance to win a five hundred dollar scholarship for college.  Not much chance of winning but what a prize to whom ever wins.  I know still sounds boring for a first grader.  Again not at all.  Every hundred minutes gets her name in a a drawing for a chance to win some cheap toy or book.  Still I know so what.  Well these drawings are every tuesday and thursday.  On these days they have things like a puppet show, a magic show.  The library brought in a person that handles wildlife.  These animals came from the rain forest.  Those types of shows happen on tuesdays.  Thursdays is science and craft projects they get to interact with and keep their projects.  All of no cost to the parents.  The teens have movie night on saturdays.  I am sure that there is a lot more going on that I still haven't found out.  What are some of the things you do to keep your kids entertained?
