What is the best piece of advice you ever received?

My grandmother told me not to accept nonsense from others (phrased differently). Goes on to say not to be a fool/ don't let people walk over you.

It took me thirteen years to discover this one:  A woman can be so enamored with a man that she will take abuse and everything else he throws at her.  He can cheat on her and still she won't see it coming.  I learned this in a class:  This behavior is caused by putting blinders on your eyes.  You can see things more clearly when you take the blinders off.  I learned a lot once I took the blinders off my eyes.  I thank God for my taking a Life Skills class because, when I took the blinders off, I saw things I should have seen years ago.
