I think if you are going to use etrade you need to understand the market or be willing to review their research before making a trade. I don't think they give you much advice. Good luck.

I've been starting to research some trading platforms and have been looking at Scottrade and Trade King.  There are several, and I'm thinking to start, to use something that allows a low balance, low trading fees, allows for infrequent trades, and sufficient information/assistance.  The lists of recommended starter sites change, so I plan to continue to review until I have money to start an account (hoping for later this year, or maybe next).

Before venturing in any brokage service you should hopefully have a general plan how to understand the market of concentration.  Some of the tools available by a number of these services, such as the one offered by Fidelity are pretty comprehensive, but if you're unsure how to read them then all the services will be the same to you other than layout and per trade fee.  I've not used ETrade in years, but I didn't mind the service when I briefly trialed this.

I used to have an account years ago but I haven't in many years.
They do charge many fees and have minimums you have to have.
