are you the one who ALWAYS calls your friends?
They say they'll call and never do.

In the past I have been.  I quit doing it.  I have had friends who always say "call me" and if we talk I have to call them.  I have to text them first.  If I have to make all the effort and they can't make any effort first then there ain't too much of a friendship there.  I had one that we didn't talk for a couple of years because she wouldn't call or text me first.  I don't call that a friend.

I'm bad about calling. I just never remember to call someone until it's late at night, when they are probably in bed. It doesn't help that I work second shift and most of my friends work first shift, so I can only call them on the weekends.

I too had friends like that, also had one in particular who would talk for 45 mins nonstop about her problems, I could never get a word in edgewise, and when I did and started to talk about my day, she always had to go, she was really good about saying I will stop by next week, and NEVER did.........So I just stopped taking her calls, or calling her, and stopped answering the door when she would stop in out of the blue

Sounds very familiar.  I have one "friend" who only calls when she has nothing better to do or no one else to hang with.

It seems like no one talks to anyone anymore, especially the youth. Texting has taken over their world!  :) As I spend most of my working time talking on the phone I am pretty reluctant to make social calls after that. That and I really don't have a lot of folks that I want to talk to out side of the circle of folks that I meet up with in person regularly.

I don't really see a big deal in calling friends back or not calling friends back.. To me the phrases "call me" "talk to you later" "i'll call you again sometime" are just polite way of getting off the phone instead of rushing the person off or being rude.. It's always good to hear from friends but sometimes life moves so fast people lose track of time and don't get around to things they want to get around to. Sometimes that "getting around to calling" never happens.. You can't fret.. People work, have kids, have problems, emergiencies, just many things can happen where it would be tough to take time to call. That's why i belive in taking at least 5 minutes out of your day to stop and smell the roses.. You know.. Slow down life a bit.. Enjoy it.. You only live once and the few close friends you have.. you wanna keep not push away.. But in the end.. if you wanna talk then call em or text em.. if they don't do it to you first who cares.. let them know your thinking about them.. Sometimes it only takes one time.. :p

Minion, what I meant was for example a girl I went to high school with and then worked with a couple of years after HS.  I saw her about a year ago and we talked for a few and as I walked away she is like "call me" .

I do not know her phone number.    In HS shewould talk to me if I called her but she never initiated the call.
I always had to make the effort.  I had a friend recently that was the same way with texting.  She is like text me.  I am like why?  Half the time she does not answer and she never texted first.  Idk.  If I have to make all the effort it does not take long til I am like why bother.

Honestly, I never talk to friends on the phone anymore.  It's all via text/email/facebook.  I talk to my family back home on the phone, but that's about it.  And I'm totally ok with that.  My life is pretty hectic and finding time to dedicate to talk on the phone (especially finding time when my 2 toddlers are being quiet) is very difficult.  Chatting via text/messaging, gives us both flexibility to write back and respond when it's convenient.  I really do enjoy technology.

No, I am not the one who always call.  I hate being on the phone.  I worked for the phone company and I was promoted to a position where I had to talk to customers all day.  I grew to hate being on the phone.  So people call me or I might call them occasionally them.
