Irritated at work
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:37:41 pm »
I do home care for a living. I was at home earlier when I punctured my finger earlier with a knife. I have ran through I don't know how many bandaids. I get here to help my client and as I'm turning him over the bandaid I just put on has fallen off. I politely ask him for one of his bandaids and he says to me I don't give out bandaids. Usually I am really quiet and soft spoken but that pissed me off so I replied okay well I'll just bleed all over you then I guess. I said it like a joke but he really irritated me. I found some gauze and told him not asked him that I was going to wrap it. I just don't understand how people can be rude to their caregivers when their caregivers are  polite to them.

The health care field can be very challenging and it takes being patience to deal with a sick person.

I commend you for the job that you do .. it is a very tough job .. sick people are sometimes just tired of being sick and they are not very nice .... not that it gives them an excuse to be rude.  Just try to be patient and take it in stride.  Don't let someone else's rudeness ruin your day.

Wow.... some people can be so rude. Good for you that you kept your cool and just did what you needed to. Dealing with the public is so frustrating at times!

Sick folks can be  mean and ugly at times.  You did good by keeping your cool.

I have to congratulate you for doing the job you do.  It takes a very special kind of person to deal with older people with medical issues.  Thank you for doing what you do.  As far as your client, it's sad but some people can be so stingy and mean.  Hopefully he will realize you are there to help him and not to "steal" a stupid bandaid.  Good luck to you.

Not all care givers are nice.  And some are just nice when others are around.  Having said that....it seems odd that you could need a bandaid and ask a person who has some if you can have one and they tell you no I don't give out bandaids.  That is just odd.
