Is Jews' Covenant Better than Christians'?
« on: January 08, 2014, 10:32:33 am »
I think Jews' covenant is better, because it is 'signed by both parties' (with circumcision). It's sort of like the Rainbow-signed Covenant, except that one's signed by God & not humans!

Do Christians even have a covenant (signed by both/either God and/or the humans themselves)?

I really hope you're kidding here. What could be more binding in a covenant than His shed Blood and burying our old life? That's your signature right there.

Maybe I'm patterning-after Doubting Thomas here, but I don't see "His shed Blood and burying our old life." I see 'stories about His shed blood' and 'denial of our old life,' but do you know an employer who counts those as signatures on employees' contracts?

Yet,you seem to except the rainbow as God's covenant not to flood the world again, or circumcision as a covenant to the Jews?Is there somehow greater proofs in these?

They have one of the leading qualities of signatures: visibility. Do you add YOUR name to contracts 'signed with invisible ink'?

Yes. But what would the New Testament be without it?

The covenant is spiritual. There is no need for there to be some kind of physical "signature" I think these verses support that:
John 4:24  God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
John 3:7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

And I wouldn't follow Thomas example too closely.Remember Jesus admonishment:
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

But we ARE physical. We don't GET PAID for spiritual work!

What part of "being born of the Spirit" are you having a problem understanding?

The part that remains physical ... the curse of this flesh, no?

Sorta. I do 'believe in' "only one God" (there are 'those words' again ... I guess it's like one of those 'popular mispronunciations'). But I wanna show people that they shouldn't limit Him to "only one way of being understood."

I say I'm a "Christian Buddhist"---and claim 'Jesus is my Buddha,' but that would make me a "Jesus-ist." But the way I see it, Jesus was more of a 'Christian Buddhist' as well---following 'the way of the Anointing,' rather than that of any "teacher" or "prophet" or "healer" :)

:) Abram entered into covenant with God. Abram did not walk through the sacrifice as he fell into a deep trance. Only God has kept the covenant. Man has never kept the covenant.

That is why Jesus came and sealed the "New covenant", with His blood, so we could enter into heaven and have "Peace with God." Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to full fill the law and bring in a kingdom of peace and mercy.  :)
