im scared to ask for my gift

I don't ask anyone for a gift.  If someone asks me what I want for Christmas I give them my wish list on a specific website...usually, Amazon.  Then they can  choose something on my list and surprise me.  I've learned not to have the expectation that someone will give me a gift because....

If we expect something we might be setting ourselves up to be disappointed.

I agree with the last posts. You can make recommendations but gifts should come from the heart....
