Ok, here we go again! Another administration another attempt at universal health care. Not that I don't think it's needed. I just don't think it's going to work. I mean, put all those drug companies out of business? And what happens to all of the lobbyists? I do know that something is needed and now! With premiums then deductables-I have months when I think about dropping my coverage-what exactly am I getting for my $ 500.00 plus per month? Get sick in America? How? If, and that's a very big if, health care coverage becomes mandatory-how exactly is the law going to be enforced? Sounds like I've just knocked over a can of worms.

One of the reasons health care is in such turmoil, is yes once again- money and greed.  Too much money is spent on making people better, instead of keeping people healthy.  People need to take more responsibility with their own individual health.  One of the reasons health care costs are higher is everyone has to help pay for the ones who do not lead a healthy life style.  If you choose to lead an unhealthy lifestyle, then that person should pay extra, not the ones who take care of themselves.  Some examples of an unhealthy life style can include:  Poor eating habits, too much eating, not enough exercise, allowing stress and anger to get out of hand, not enough sleep, smoking, drinking, drugs, etc.  There is much of that activity that is making people very unhealthy.  Many health problems can be reversed, eliminated, or certainly toned down if people make a stronger effort.

Too bad there are some many people out there who are perfect........ oh, lest I forget no one on this earth is perfect.  Making blanket statements is also one of the imperfect things that humans do.

Universal healthcare is a concept that has both its ups and downs. It is good for those who do not have the money to cover healthcare costs, and therefore would usually suffer. On the other hand, it is not advantageous for those who can already adequately provide healthcafre for themselves. When healthcare becomes socialised. The idea of money giving priority no longer is in place. Everyone is on the same line, and it does not matter how much money you have. While the idea of making sure everyone has equal coverage seems good, in reality, it is not so favourable. It creates lines for long wait periods for everything. As a result of the fact that everything is equal, money is spread thin, not by need, but for the sake of giving everyone the same amount. A good example of this is the NHS in Great Britian. While it is helpful to those who previously would not have been able to have healthcare at all, it is not as good for those who could.
  It's not a question of the greed of the healthcare system, as most end up making just as much, if not more from those who are willing to pay steep prices for the benefit of private healthcare. It's simply a question of how willing the government itself is willing to pay for such a service, especially Republicans. That and the fact that they don't want to be branded as "socialists" going along with such a thing. The Cold War period had put the American population off anything even remotely similar to the idea of socialism that they are willing to sacrifice the greater good to avoid such a label. It really is a shame, as socialism itself is a good idea, as proven by most western European countries.

Health insurance is a joke.  I am fortunate enough that my husband works for a company that has their own private health insurance program, so the money that we are paying into for our health insurance in going into an account and not into a company's pocket.  Health insurance is just a money game and the doctors and the healthcare facitlities do not make it any better.  I know that I have called to check prices for various things at healthcare businesses and I have been given one price if you have insurance, which is higher, and a cheeper price if you don't have insurance this is not right.  You also have to pick up the tab for someone that is not able to pay their bill.  I had a friend that was in the hospital and they charged her $10.00 for one diabetic testing strip .  That is ridiculous.
