Moving
« on: October 21, 2013, 06:41:20 am »
The cost of living in NYC is getting to be a bit to much but there a a lot more opportunities to make money in the job market then anywhere else. I want to move but idk where to? Any suggestions?

DO NOT MOVE WITHOUT A JOB.    The job market is horrible just about everywhere.  Full time employees at different locations are asking to take a cut so they can hire seasonal workers.   Make sure you have a job before the jump to a new city.   It is tough all over.   Good luck with your search and watch out for scammers.

thanks for the support Fc family. I have been doing my research and I agree with you totally. I need to find work first then a place to live because it seems as if everyone is going through some hard times money wise these days, so I have to be secure first.

I agree, it's tough all over.  Places with lower cost of living also have lower wages and fewer opportunities.  Perhaps you could exploit your own passions with a website business.  Check out Work at Home No Scams and SBI.  There's a lot of free information that might inspire you.

     I have to agree...do not move without a job and a place to live.  Where the cost of living is lower so is the cost of housing and the pay also is lower.  But I have found that sometime food prices are higher.

you do not necessarily need a 9-5 job but you do need an income. have some kind of business you can run from your home or be ready to pick up on some gigs on craigslist. You really just need to be determined to make it or else you will not get anywhere by moving.

DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT A JOB!  My sister's one friend had a full time job with benefits but decided she wanted a clean break. She quit and moved 2 hours away.  She moved with a friend for "a few weeks until she found a job and apartment."  Well.....long story short, she couldn't find any jobs so had to take 2 part time jobs, with no benefits.  After a month she wore out her welcome, her and her friend no longer talk and she is now living in a beat up mobile home in a run down mobile home park.  So....think it out carefully before you make a move.

If you're gonna move, make sure you move where you have a job also. You'll be stuck if you can't afford anything including rent

I have moved several times in the past and really dread the thought of it.

The job market is healthy in a lot of places, so I'd start by looking into jobs where you would like to move.
