It is a pain getting up for a sale but its worth it when you can stock up on food for about a month or two.

I've been doing the "price match" at Walmart (they will match local competitors printed ad prices on identical items) and coupons from newspaper plus Walmart takes internet coupons and that has saved me alot of time and money!!

This is a great idea to stretch the dollar even further....price matching!

We get cash back shopping at Walmart now so we do a lot of our grocery shopping at Walmart using the Walmart gift cards we purchase from our back office of Lyoness.

I don't get the weekly ads anymore, so I go online to each store.  I like shopping online first - some of my menus are determined by what is on sale.  ;D

I've been doing the "price match" at Walmart (they will match local competitors printed ad prices on identical items) and coupons from newspaper plus Walmart takes internet coupons and that has saved me alot of time and money!!

I found out the hard way that although Walmart will price-match competitors, they do not price match themselves... I was shopping for Jello for our summer party earlier this summer, and I had first stopped at one Walmart close to my house and picked up a few packets of Jello (some lime "Great Value" brand of Jello). But I realized that that particular location didn't have some of the flavors that we wanted. Since we have 2 Walmart locations in town within 10 miles of each other, I decided to try the other location for the other flavors we were looking for (specifically pineapple). While I was at the other location, I texted my friend to make sure I grabbed all of the Jello that we needed, and found out that we needed 2 more packages of the lime Jello in addition to the ones I had already purchased at the previous location. When I was checking out, I noticed that the Great Value packets that I got were 50-cents whereas I thought that at the previous store they were 30-something-cents. So when I got back to the car, I checked the receipt and sure enough the lime Great Value Jello was 17-cents cheaper at the first location. So I brought both receipts back inside to the Customer Service desk to get a refund for the price match. That was when I was informed that Walmart doesn't price-match themselves.  :o  ???  >:(  :bs: I guess that this is a corporate policy, so the customer service rep's hands were tied. I went back to the first location to see if this was true esp. since it's on my way home so it'd only be a quick detour. At least that customer service rep. was much more helpful in first explaining the reason for this policy (the wholesale prices of products may change, so the company doesn't set prices across the board. Thus each location has the discretion to assign different prices.) and second said that even though that is the corporate policy, that because the stores are so close to each other that the other store really should have had the same price or at the very least offer to price-match even though the corporate policy didn't require them to do so. Needless to say, after that experience, I am less inclined to shop at Walmart esp. at the 2nd location; I hope that the 34-cents they saved was worth losing part of their customer base.  :BangHead:  :angry7:

It is always wise to stock up when there are great sales at all the grocery stores.  Ultra Foods was having an 88 cent sale, but I missed it-got busy.

We go to Aldies for grocerys and save alot of money(we where spending $115-$130 at walmart but now that we go to aldies we only spend $30-$50)

I love Save a Lot. They are cheaper than Walmart. Aldies just opened up in my town and I went to the grand opening yesterday. It was so crowded. Their prices are awesome though. I got yogurt for .69 and a gallon of milk for less than $3. At Walmart and Save a Lot a gallon of milk is almost $4 a gallon.

Like to shop at Foodmaxx they have good prices on produce. Hate to shop there when it is hot like 100 degrees cause it is a huge store. then I go to savemart which is around the corner but much higher prices. I paid 4.99 for bacon was mad at the price but wanted it. be on the look out for cereal to be on sale with back to school and probably cpns on them to.

Where I live, Kroger is the best place to shop, they double coupons up to a dollar, but I still hate shopping. I always try to go early in the morning and during the week, never on the weekends. I watch the sales at other places, but usually just stick to one store, the gas isn't worth driving back and forth. I would let my husband do it, but that would cost me twice as much, at least.
