States should do more to help the homeless.  It is unfortunate that they don't.  Some people fall down on their luck, and then there are those people who are too proud to take a handout.  I  think it is sad.

We have a lot of homeless in our area of Florida as well but they stay more hidden than in some cities because out town thinks they are so "fancy" but they are there none the less. Its sad.

It is really sad but it can happen to anyone, you just never know. Now there are some out there that choose to be homeless cuz of the situation they got themselves in so beware  :P

I think it is so sad that this country has so many homeless people.  I'm probably going to get some flack for saying this, but....I think it's a crime this country spends trillions of dollars helping tons of countries, but allows our citizens to be homeless.  How many men, women, and children sleep in cars, under bridges, or in streets and go to sleep hungry every night?  It's fine to help other countries, but do so AFTER everyone here has a roof over their head and food in their stomach.

Yep instead of giving all the money to country tha don't even like us the govt. sould be helping our homeess here at home. I feel if they are given a helping hand a lot of them would go on to be productive citizins. Of course there a lot of moochers out there too. They say the are homeless butnot. Case in point about our government. Our church recieved a request from a military  base that the homecomming single guys and women do not even have sheets, bankets, pillows or towels waiting for them when they get back to the states Why? When Obummer just spent almost $100 million on a trip. That money could have gone to better use.

I am seeing more and more homeless people.  I see one man every time I go to the grocery store or run into 7 eleven for  a paper etc.  He must just wander around all day with no place to go.  I have seen him on line for samples of food from Publix.  I have also seen him help around 7 eleven and I think that they give him free coffee in return.  I have often wondered where he sleeps at night. So sad!! This problem really needs to be addressed.
