Is it safe for a baby to sleep on it's back or stomach?

Hi guys,

I'm a mother and I have allowed my children to sleep both ways
without any incidents, so I'm thinking you just basically have to monitor
them at all times.

Hi guys,

I'm a mother and I have allowed my children to sleep both ways
without any incidents, so I'm thinking you just basically have to monitor
them at all times.

Well, I believed it safe unless you don't let her or him sleep with any
other stuff with them, blankets, sheet or pillow in their crib. When my children were babies
I let them sleep in their crib without any blankets or pillows or other things that might made me
thinking if its ok I left that stuff in their crib. So I always let them wore one piece closed toes
sleeping wear in their crib when they go sleep. Sometimes we thought it wont be happened but always
always be aware and never, never leave any single thing in their crib no matter how cute the stuff is, never and never
leave blankets, sheets, toys, stuff animals or even a baby bib never and you'll be think free.... hope this will help for
what you've been thinking...

It always changes. When I was a baby, my mother was told to always put babies to sleep on their backs.

When my son was born, the advice was OMG BABIES SLEEPING ON BACKS = CHILD ABUSE

Now I'm hearing it's back to the backs again.

It's stressful enough for new parents, without all these dire warnings.

Any health care professional will say that it is not safe to let them sleep on their stomachs.  However, my son was born a preemie and had lots of problem with reflux.  He would not sleep more than 30 at a time on his back.  I tried putting him on his side with supports, elevating the cradle, noting worked.  I was so exhausted I barely even remember that time.  Finally I decided to put him on my chest on his stomach and I wrapped my arms around him.  I decided that if he wee to stop breathing, I would feel it and wake up.  After that we both got sleep and he was fine, but I still worried.

I would honestly say, whatever you are most comfortable with knowing your baby. I know it changed from the time I used to babysit to when I started having my own children. They say back, but it always concerned me if they were to spit up and choke on it. But I guess that would be the arguement against stomach sleeping as well. My children were in the newborn rocker until they outgrew it and by then, they could roll over so my worry was a little lessened.

I also am a mother and my daughter sleep both ways.  She was a mover.  I could place her at one end of her crib and the next morning she was at the other end.  I kept a close eye on her while she was sleeping to make sure she was okay.

I am a mother and a grandmother, so I have heard it is safer for babies if they sleep on their backs; babies tend to get strangled sleeping on their stomachs.  I know that it has not been a problem for me perse.  If you are a mother, it is hard not to check on your baby to make sure it is all right.

Nowadays they say the back, but I would put mine either on their back or stomach but now my children are 31 and 21 but since they have had children my youngest had hers at seventeen and it was the back only. But never have anything in the crib NOTHING
