breeding dogs...

anyone on here ever bread dogs before im thinking about doing it but my fiance thinks i will be in over my head...

i really like dogs and i love taking care of puppies so i thought it would be a great idea to get a little extra cash...

Would you want to sell a puppy to someone and then find out they have neglected or abused it?  That's why I decided not to breed my yorkie.

Puppies always sound like a good idea until you have a little running, barking, pooing, and peeing all over everything.  You def. have to be set up for it.  Pplus the added pressure of finding good homes.

Depends what kind of dog and how in depth you want to get with it. If you are basically just making puppies to sell in the newspaper it isn't that difficult. One puppy can sell for more than the cost of producing a litter.

Highly sought after pure breeds have a lot of stuff you have to keep up with though. Some people require DNA tests to ensure the dog is pure bred before they will purchase. Breeding show dogs requires every minute detail of the dog to be perfect or it is just a house dog and sells for less. My grandparents are award winning Chow breeders and there is a lot of work and a ton of crap you have to deal with. The constant maintenance. A perfect puppy can sell for less if the father or mother is having a bad day like hurt its foot so it is limping slightly or is just isn't up to doing anything so he appears to the buyer as not being energetic.

As far as taking care of the puppies that is the easiest part.

Its a great idea. Just be sure that you'll be able to sell the puppies because believe me you don't want to be stuck with a bunch of puppies that you'll end up having to give away when, if you're like me, had to pay to breed my dog and then didn't make any profit off of the puppies. Another thing is to def. make sure you have a place to keep the puppies and the mother because it can get very stinky. Hope that helps
