I am so sorry for your loss.  I remember that we had a baby squirrel that we called "Squeaks".  When it got so bad that I was certain that he was going to die, I went to the pet shop, got a baby bottle and mother's milk.  I got laughed at, of course, but I told them that I didn't want it to die.  He grew up to be quite a handful.  I had laughs.  One day, he looked out of the window and saw a girl squirrel.  He snuck out of the house and that was the last I saw of him.

One of the reasons I don't like the attitudes of people today is because of cruelty. This woman if you are listening is heartbroken for her daughter and her dogs. She came to this forum and poured her heart out to us needing our support and understanding. Instead she is being judged and that is not fair! How would you feel if at a very sad moment in your life. Someone did that to you. I really wish people wouldn't behave like that. It is hateful and venomous. What harm has she ever done to you that you think you  have the right to take her apart like that. Why don't we all get together and rip you apart. Then you will know how that feels.

Thanks Loretta.  I really appreciate that.  This was my very first post and this lady acts like she knows me.  I was reading some of her posts in other topics and she responds rudely to a lot of people.  I wasn't going to post any more ever again here because i got so offended by the remarks and you show me there are nice people in here.  I've been missing my dogs to death and i've already called the guy i gave them to to see how they are adjusting.  He says they are absolutely great over there so i'm so glad for that.  Thanks loretta, maybe i'll post again some time.

she's doing better.. She keeps asking when the raccoon is going to wake up but kids don't fully grasp what exactly happened at that age.  She is ok with the dogs at a new home too.  They jumped on her and knocked her down all the time so she wasn't into them too much.  I miss them like crazy though. Thanks for the nicer group of people in here.

Post as many times as you like. Just keep making quality posts like you've been doing. Don't let one person's remarks stop you from posting. I really feel for you and your daughter and hope that she will be ok. I can't imagine going through that. Stay positive.

So, we found an abandoned baby 2 week old baby raccoon last week.  I know it's a dumb idea to make it a pet, but we wanted to keep it a few days to show my husbands kids who had visitation this weekend as well as my 3 year old daughter that just loved it do death.  So we bottle fed it all week and it was the most precious thing ever to experience and this week we were going to try to find a rehab clinic for it to be returned to the wild.  Yesterday while we were grocery shopping i came home and heard my Jack Russell dog barking like crazy who i had locked up while i was gone as usual.  I came in and there's the baby raccoon dead in the living room and my door broken where the dogs were and my stupid dog acting like he did something good. There was raccoon hair everywhere and it was so sad and my daughter had her first experience with "a dead pet".  She kept asking when her raccoon was going to wake up and asking if she was broken. And saying we need to fix her and be quiet she's sleeping for now.  And she cried.  My 3 dogs are the most disrespectful dogs i've ever had.  I've never had dogs that refused to pee outside every time.  I've had them 4 years!!! They pee outside, but they'll pee inside.  They have a doggie door so no excuse.  Just rude. This was just the last straw with them so i put an ad on to get rid of them.  I got a call from a family that wanted all 3 within 30 minutes so i didn't even have time to change my mind.  That was hard in itself because i loved my dogs still.  So we lost all our dogs and saw a poor baby raccoon after being mauled. My daughter was ok with giving the dogs a new home but very upset about the baby raccoon.  I was upset at it all.  I was sad at the raccoon that didn't even get a chance, my dogs being jerks to where i had to get rid of them, my sad daughter, and my own sad thoughts.  Thanks for listening.  I just needed to vent.  I hope the rest of this week gets better.

Hello wow that was some day you had. While it is sad that the dog kill the raccoon but it's what animals do sometime. Fish eat other fish and cats eats mouse that’s why you lock the door. You will have to explain to your daughter about what happen to the raccoon. I hope everything turns out okay.

yeah...Very true.  I came home from work one day and my cat had brought a bird in the house.  Feathers everywhere.  I have a cat that kills everything.  I've found too many mice to count, even gophers!  The dogs were locked up.  But when i came home that day, they broke the door that they are behind.  My daughter said yesterday i need to put batteries in the raccoon to fix it.  Now she says the raccoon is an angel and she lives on the moon.
