Give And Take

While your words sound genuine, nygal85, I would like to distinguish the difference between giving and taking, if I may. Giving means you are offering help to someone in the time of need.  Taking means you have accepted the offer from the giver.  While that sounds like the thing to do, I have given until I cannot give any more.  I have been with a taker.  They take and then continue to take, regardless of the situation.  I just want to make sure that giving and taking has a different place in your eyes.  I was with an ex who took and took until I said no more.  He walked away from the door, and the next day, came back to thank me for helping him lose his job.  I didn't help him lose his job; he lost it on his own because he assumed I was going to give him $10, which, coincidentally, was the cost of his daily hit, which he could not survive without.  He was mad because he couldn't make me feel pity for him; he was mad because he didn't have control over me anymore.  My saying no to him told him that his ride from the "good day sucker" was over.  There is an old saying:  never ASSUME, because you make an *bleep* out of U and ME too.
