okay...how do you get cps to take a case seriously?  How come abusive parents are still able to act like idiots...when its soooooo unhealthy?  they wait for bad things to happen...like a horrible accident?  or nasty bruises?  what about the phycholgical, emotional, mental abuse?  and harassing a "good" parent because of lies?  how does that happen?   the system is screwed up!  any advice?

Call the police and tell them that the abuse is happening now. CPS will be dispatched immediately. So basically lie if you have.

I work w/ CPS staff on a regular basis and, for the most part, they are dedicated people trying their best to balance the needs of children w/ the rights of parents.  They have a really tough job.

I would agree 100%.
In AZ they just got a bunch of money to hire more CPS people.

Hey I know the CPS worker work hard and they are over loaded with work, but hey make mistakes. some people are just smart in how to deviate from the law. The kids are so scared that they don't say when the police comes to check. They just know how to get around the law. This is so sad.  :sad1:

In my area, CPS has been known to bungle many reports of abuse.  In fact, a number of years ago they were in the news here because the negligence of the CPS led to the death of a couple of children.  The family was reported to CPS a number of times, but in the end CPS kept returning the children to the family.

I had some issues with CPS when I was a kid.  I was in a foster home when I was 14 because my biological mother was abusive, was dealing and doing hard drugs, and was not feeding us.

My brother and I called CPS.  We wanted help.  The guy on the phone thought we were lying.  He said we "need to communicate with our mother better".  He thought we were just being liars.  I ran away and, after a number of events, was placed in a decent foster home.  When I had my first court hearing to be placed with that particular family, I had told the judge about the phone calls made to CPS.

Recently, CPS in our state started making some huge changes.  Since the deaths of those kids, CPS is taking more care in attending to reports of abuse.  However, they are still lacking.
