Didn't know that, but that seems about right.  That's why I avoid using my phone for radio and instead run it on my iPod.  Plus, then I don't need to worry about my phone running out of battery.

You could possibly try a few other apps out there.  Surely there is another that you could use during the rest of the month until you could go back to Pandora.

I use Pandora on my pc. My cousin uses the iheartradio app on his smart phone. Its free, just can't pause, or rewind.

everything that claims to be free for the time being somehow always finds it's way to go pay, pandora isn't the only one doing this on mobile phone, Song pop is doing the same thing. Rumors has been circulating for a couple of years that Facebook is planning to go that direction in time too. of course the latest I've heard is that Facebook will no longer exist in 3 years due to the fact it is a free social media and it will be taking off (closed). But it will come back as a paid monthly service not being Facebook but *bleep* Facebook. And if you been on Facebook lately it's already starting to change to that kind of content already.

I don't like Pandora! When I pick a certain radio station they start out playing a few songs by the artist I chose and then veer off to some crap I don't even like and stop playing songs by the artist completely and when I dislike songs it tells me I can only dislike a certain amount of songs in a day. Forget Pandora I use Spotify it's the same deal except you can make your own playlist of whatever songs YOU chose.

@ dmitchn1 the key to making your station your is to click on the artist's bio and on the right hand side you can click like artist and that is how to edit your station clicking the  will only play songs that others like alike that song not the artist. As with everybody else, I get it is a great app, I get that is not much to pay for a useful and great app, I get that you can uninstall and not use it if you don't want to pay, I get that they need to get their money somehow. I get all of that, and I agree with all of that, but then again, is isn't anything of that which bothers me, it is the lack of courtesy companies in general have these days, including Pandora, the deceiving, the fine print, the catch, the taking advantage of people, etc. I don't use Pandora personally, but if I did, I would have deeply appreciated a notice like a month in anticipation of the service changing to a pay format, or a trial or limited fashion. A little remainder to the email you have to use to register, or a conspicuous note in their interface in addition to said email would have suffice. If they actually did that, then I take everything back, if they didn't, then shame on them and all other companies with those shady practices, regardless of how great and useful and cheap their products are.

Pandora isn't deceiving anyone. There's no hidden charges. Once you reach your 40 hours, you can pay $1 to listen for the rest of the month, or wait until next month.

I love listening to Pandora on my internet.  I did hear they were going to be charging now after so many songs had been played, I haven't been charged yet so we will see.  I don't think it is suppose to amount to much at all though.
