well if you watched the kansas city chiefs this year, this is not football...ha. i don't know if you are serious or not..but basically they kick off, the receiving team gets the ball and tries to advance it to the end zone. Each try they have 4 attempts or downs to get the first down, if they try on the fourth however, and miss the other teams gets the ball from that spot, they may also opt to kick a field goal on the fourth down.  They can throw interceptions (kansas city is majoring in this) or fumble the ball(also good in this right now) and then the ball goes to the other team from wherever they threw the interception or fumbled the ball. 3 pts for field goals, 6 for touch downs, and kick after 1 pt. also 2 points for a safety if they get a sack of the quarter back in their own endzone, it is a safety. 4 quarters 15 minutes each, regulation game 60 minutes. unless over time then they flip a coin, winner gets the ball has a chance to take it down field if they score, now the other team has one opportunity to get the ball to tie it or beat them, new rule.

Always laugh when people say their pro team is no good or a bunch of bums, lol! The best players in the world, you don't get any better. Oh well!!! Ever notice the number of losing teams in pro sports? The best players in the world, you don't find any better, lol! Was at the BBQ the other day, talking to a young football (high school) player. Asked what position he played, he said "...the one near the guy who catches the ball..." Then he asked me if I new the positions, I said "...yes I played the game..." Asked him what side he play on, lol, just a little fun, but I never laughed. When my food came I told him he was a "tight end" , not easy, even  for the players if you are not very familiar with the sport/game.

Offense, can be considered more like attack, their job is to score points. Were as, it is the defenses job to stop them from scoring. It may be a little confusing if you are from another country, because the defense in American/Canadian football can score as well, along with a group called special teams. Which flags?, there are a few. The ones uses by the people whose job it is to make sure the rules are followed are, penalty flags.

Quarterbacks have to carry and protect the ball, so they are not able to protect themselves when they back to look where to throw.  If they are running with the ball they can be hit just like any other player.  Otherwise they are just sitting ducks for someone to injure them seriously.  They are defenseless.

But what do you mean by soft?

It is not only quarterbacks that are considered soft. You also have players from all the other positions making lists of soft players. QB's may top the list because they avoid more. They may have plans for working in front of a camera, like Tom Brady and need their good looks.
