I hope the flying cars don't get malfunction and crush on pedestrian's head, maybe in the future no more gasoline.....just like the movie "back to future" using trash to replace the gasoline for the flying cars :)

Flying cars already exist! At least, one does according to Mysteries at the Museum. Anyone else ever watch that show? Love it, and great for anyone who loves  visiting museums. Basically they highlight actual displays/artifacts from museums around the country, and one was an actual flying car. The whole premise is that it was an actual car you could drive down the street, and you towed the wings (and a propeller? I can't remember) behind you. When traffic was bad, you pulled over, put the wings on your car, and took off. The guy who invented it apparently spent a lot of time getting it to comply with air safety standards. In fact, Ford was going to contract to build it. Unfortunately, in the years it took for him to get it approved to fly, new regulations for cars came around with which he wasn't in compliance, and the project was finally scrapped. The one flying car he did build is now on display in a museum. Kinda cool.  :D

Thanks to our government(republicans) we'll never get to own flying vehicles! Much less go colonize planets in space!First & only country to place the American flag on the moon & we even lost that in fact we don't have a space station anymore. The Russians then the Soviet Union, was our enemy racing to reach the moon first. Now they have the only space station around!America's too oil hungry & the more we depend on it, we're prisoners to other countries that have it all. Why we can't move forward to better, cleaner & more productive fuel & create cars or self operated cars that can drive you anywhere. I'm still waiting for the Hover board to become a reality from back to the Future!Another depressing factor is that the cost is too high for a normal family to afford. I've been wanting to purchase one those Sigway, vehicles but still too expensive to even wish for it. Still it's cool, I've seen the University security ride around on them. Wahhhhhaaahhh! I want one! :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2: :crybaby2: This will probably be possible on my death bed! Ya, when I'm too old & too weak to enjoy any new technology! It sucks, & I hate the newly born & young people they're soooo lucky! :angry7: :BangHead:

Not in this lifetime. It's going to take an incredible amount of money and effort to pull something like that off.

I hope it's soon traffic is a beast and it would be a big help if the highways weren't so congested. I'm kinda up there so I may not live to see it maybe you will.  I'm glad I got to see George Jetson's touch screen computer and the computer that vacuums floors. God Bless. :)

Thanks for posting that link, falcon9.  I hadn't heard about this.  Wonder if you need to have a pilot's license to drive one of those babies instead of a driver's license to operate it.

Yes you will have to have an FAA license and a drivers license. The cars were there long before the Jetsons, maybe that is where the cartoon guys got the idea. But the cost is coming down so fast, "...the expected retail price is $200,000 for the Terrafugia Transition, which can transform itself from a two-seat road car to a plane in 15 seconds..." and I read somewhere $10, 000 down.

Not to mention the insane amounts of energy requirements that are necessary.

Not in this lifetime. It's going to take an incredible amount of money and effort to pull something like that off.

There are already cars that can go on water and land. That started in 1962 you can go http://nothingtoxic.blogspot.com/2007/09/1962-amphibian-car.html to see a picture. They called them amphibian cars.  :peace:
