Right now I have 2 dogs. Both of them are rottweiler mix.  Our german shepard and our akita died last year. My old man is trying to find another akita.

My parents had  dog that lived to be 13.  It was a mean little yippy terrier.  Much like people, the grumpy ones seem to live the longest.

I have had a cat live to be 19.
My brother had a cat live to be over 20.
There is no reason your pet should not have a good long life
if you take proper care of it and keep it from the
outside dangers of the world.

My Border Collie passed away at the age of 17. I miss her terribly.  :(

The dog I grew up with lived to be 16. I had a Schnauzer that lived to be 14. The crazy dog I have now is 11, soon to be 12  and going strong. With proper care they can live a long life.
