Stay safe, don't take tax advice from a public forum. No matter what you read here, you are ultimately responsible for the action you decide to take, so do some research from reliable sources or consult an expert.

Yes, I agree with OLDBUDDY's take on the subject. Please do not take advise from Forums. However, I think that you will have to take in condideration the amount of money you earn as an independent contractor from FC. Check with your local accountant or with your tax preparer for the final decision.

Income is income--no matter where it comes from. I agree with the previous two posts of getting advice from a professional. The amount you would pay in additional tax is probably less than any penalty you would face from a potential audit.

I agree completley with the above posters. In the Army we reffered to people who are not professionals that give you advice as "barracks lawyers".

You must have been in a different army, we called them "s**thouse lawyers".

I will definitely take Old Buddy's advise.  He has been very helpful during all of this and since he has been a member for so long and knows all of the ins and outs, best listen to the pro.  Thanks Old Buddy!

Not that I'm telling you to listen to this or anything but through my research online people have said most companies won't even bother reporting income you've made with them unless it is $600 or over.  Although I've known people who have earned various income in different amounts and if those companies don't report the income you earned from them then there is really no tracking it (Allegedly) but just to be on the safe side I'd report it if you make any amount $600 and up regardless of the sources.  A couple years ago I had a guy do my taxes who used to work for the IRS and he said any company that reports wages you earned with them whether it be a 1099 form or W2 in ANY amount you should report it on your taxes or it won't match up and could trigger an audit.  The best way to get around it is to think of deductions and to make sure you keep receipts with those deductions and have them ready just in case the IRS does a random audit.  Most times if you report income earned and a few legitimate deductions the IRS won't look twice at you.  In my situation that's what I go by and even though I don't make that much on the side I researched it just in case I did ever earn a sizeable amount and wanted to figure out if I should report it or not.

The bottom line is the IRS REQUIRES Fusioncash to send us a 1099 if we earn over $600 and you would be well advised to include it with your tax return if you get one. I have a drawer full of them.
