Question--because I didn't see this on their site w/o reading every T&C..
Does obopay directly charge a surcharge for using the card at an ATM? (even if that ATM charges you nothing)

it lists the account balance as 0 dollars until you:

1) provide a bank account and or "credit/debit" card
2) make a deposit from that account (at 1.5%) of at least 10 bucks
3) use the card

im not very happy with this one, i tell people good things about this site, and i hate to see a scam get slipped through

hmmm I had to do a combo of these two.

i had to link it to another account, transfer $10 and then send some money to someone.  I did get my $10 bonus and am anxiously awaiting my card!!

i signed my fiancee' up under me on obopay and all he had to do was apply for the mastercard then send money to someone which was me.(lol) and he had $10 bucks in his account he is now waiting for his card

I say sign up for paypal it is better than obopay

no paypal is not better.. paypal tranfers from paypal r insteat with no fees... but obopay tranfers from an obopay account are to with no fees... obopay has NO fees at all. only fees you pay is atm fee if you use an atm. and that is the fee the atm charges. obopay don't charge you anything them selves. as far as direct depo.. paypal n obopay take the same amount of time. also.. you get your obopay card in a few weeks.. if you r just joining paypal you have to wait 3 month before you can even request to get their debit card.

i agree i only use paypal for ebay which i am barely on to begin with. i jus signed up for the obopay thing and i havent gotten my card yet bcuz i dnt wanna transfer money to anyone so i guess im not gettin the 10 bucks but yea i dnt like that paypal has all those fees i jus got paid from another website an it charged me 74 cents for them to put money on my paypal account wut CRAP!!

I have been using Paypal for years and have NEVER been charged a fee for receiving money. I opened it years ago b/c of my ebay sellers account.
Since ebay owns Paypal (for those who did not know that), the only time paypal would deduct from your account is if you have it set up with ebay to automatically deduct from your paypal account, your seller fee's, etc.
But as far as just using paypal to receive money, etc., I have never been charged a fee.

As the saying goes, "stick with what you know!" And I know paypal and absolutely, 100% am a sastisfied customer.

Obopay may work for some but to me, Paypal is by far the better of the 2!

Oh, and as long as I've been a member of the Paypal community, it's always been, since they came out, a 2 month wait before getting your debit card. Meaning, you have to remain established with paypal for 60 days before you can even apply for a debit card. So for those who want a card NOW, paypal won't be for you. But it's 60 days, not 90.

the fees very with paypal depending on the type of account you have with them. also with the obopay card.. no there is no fees for atm withdraw only the fee that the atm it's self charges you. so if it has no fee then you pay none. the only fee you ever pay is .10 when you tranfer money to another obopay account. and sleepy as far as you having to tranfer money to someone to get your card or the 10.00 i don't know what is up with that. i got my 10.00 in my account as soon as i verfied my phone. some as all my friends who signed up under me...

I have a Premiere PayPal Account.  When I get paid by Fusion into my PayPal Account I do not get charged any fees.  That is because Fusion does a "Mass Pay Out" and I believe they pick up the fees.  A couple of other sites I get paid through into my PayPal Account I do get charged and the charge is 2% of the deposit plus 30 cents.  I don't mind the fee since I do a lot of shopping on Ebay and that's what my PayPal Account is for.

I am not so sure if it is the type of PayPal Account you have or the site you are being paid from, or both.  But there are fees that can be associated with having money deposited into your PayPal Account.  I am not a Seller on Ebay, so I don't know about that type of PayPal Account.  But for those of us that are not Sellers, that is the way it works.

I signed up for obopay before I signed up here, and I have yet to receive my card. I signed up like 4 weeks ago and no card, and the link they claim is there to apply for the card isn't there. I have to look more, but if I can't get a card,  am not completing the signup (link acct, deposit $10).

Anyways, this seems OK, but I am not sure since I didn't find a "request card" link.

Unfortunately, its no longer offered by FC, but you can still sign up for a card at www.obopay.com.  Its a prepaid debit card and they start you off with $10, no fees attached.  And you receive $5 for everyone you refer that signs up for a card.

I had to deposit 10 bucks from my bank.  To get the extra 5 I referred my friend and we both had to give back info.  I'm kinda freaked out and have had to call them numerous times.  Looks like I'll be calling tomorrow as well.

Well I have NEVER had problems with paypal either...

And as Obopay has given me so many problems.. I think I will think about keeping the account. I still havent gotten the card from them... and it's been almost 2 months.
We'll see what happens...
